I Don’t Need A Smile From A Mannequin.

I’m really glad I didn’t do one of those New Years Resolution posts… In my mind I WAS going to update this thing at least once a week (shouldn’t be hard at all really) but three weeks in and this is the first. Not only is it the first but it is severely lacking in content. I can safely say that before I even finish typing. Basically, the point of this outfit picture is just because I was so ridiculously happy at my $5 K-Mart Kids dress. It makes me feel very nautical and like I’m in primary school. As a bonus I found matchy matchy earrings in my jewellery box that were a perfect fit. Also, I like the blue hair but that’s long gone. By about two weeks. That’s a long time in my hair world…..IMG_4146

Slightly unusual face that one there.

I hope you can’t see my knickers. I’m pretty sure you can’t but my eyes are bad.

I’ve Been Moving So Long The Days All Feel The Same.

For those of you that didn’t know, today marked the end of an era. After six years of working for myself and being part of my own little world we shut the doors of our little business. It’s been a long time in the works and wasn’t a decision made easily. 24/7 stress and being on call and switched on ALL the time has certainly left me a bit frayed and wanting of something simpler and easier…. for the time being in any case! It’s bitter sweet. I”ll certainly miss the freedoms and people I’ve been so lucky to encounter a long the way but it gives me a new space and clear head to move on with new things. I’m an employee now rather than an employer which in itself is a new adjustment. Something I didn’t really think I’d do again.I must say though, it is kinda nice to remove a few (like a hundred) layers of stress. Also there are new exciting things in the works but for now I’m just happy to keep things a little more laid back. I’m still having fun on the side with dirt(y) and who knows where that might take me. I never would have expected a box of cereal to pay my wages and several other peoples for all these years but strange things happen right?!

In any case, when I get moving and hauling stuff around, I get back to comfortable and what I know. Basically I dress like I’m 15. Actually,  I have owned this jacket since I was 15. Maybe younger even. Once upon a time when parkas were THE indie kid item. Proof that through everything some things will never change!

Cause You’re Big In Japan.

Today was probably what I would call perfect weather. Not too hot and not too cool. After dropping off my car to change the tyres (boo, I’d rather be spending that money on something nice like CLOTHES!) we wandered through town and through the Japanese Gardens on South Terrace in the city. So pretty. Unfortunately there were a couple of Bogan weddings going on (the bride was holding a stubby with a football club holder in her wedding photos) so it was hard work to find a corner where there weren’t people everywhere. We got a picture of the bride, footy stubby and all but it feels wrong to put her up here. She had that “I’m going to beat you up if you look at me” kinda vibe. Best leave her off the internets I think…..

Trying to blend in with nature. Is it working? I think not.

I’ve had these boots re-soled a few times now and the shoe man is just completely confused that I never want them polished. I’ve worked hard to scuff those toes that good. He doesn’t understand.

In The Pink.

I was feeling all a bit pink and girly today and somehow I managed to wear my Bally heels without feeling like a nanna. Not that I would normally mind but sometimes it can go ‘too’ nanna. I’ve had these shoes for years. Love looking at them, hate wearing them. Until today…. Well it was a special day so I thought I’d better dress nice.

Happy Birthday Cobus! Isn’t getting old fun?! :/

Oooh, almost like a real pose!

I’m not usually too into natural and beige wool but I just thought the buttons on this cardigan were the cutest. Plus I like just feeling myself all day. Sounds bad? Yes! But it’s sooo fuzzy and soft! Angora is the best!

I love love love these shoes. I found them about 10 years ago in a St Vinnies. They were marked $40 and I was given them for $20 as the old lady at the counter felt it was too expensive. Mint Condition Bally heels. I didn’t complain!

You Never Get Too Cool.

We just couldn’t get a picture today where I wasn’t pulling some stupid move or where I wasn’t making a grumpy face. 9 out of 10 photos include grumpy face so on a bad photo day the chances of something looking decent are slim to none. So here I present 1) itching my head with my keys and 2)telling Cobus to hurry up and take the damn photo because I’m starving and we’re already late for our reservation. Luckily I didn’t take a post dinner shot because this skirt isn’t all that forgiving and seeing as we ate at Concubine it was a feast. Photo two included the evening edition of tights because I am radical like that. Also, I had been slightly paranoid all day after I was told this morning that you could almost see cheek out of my skirt. Um. no. There was a lot of manoeuvring today to say the least.

You can’t see them that well but I love these boots. They hurt so I don’t wear them too often. I bought them at Wasteland on Melrose in LA so feel extra cool and cowgirl like. They are capped and buckled and everything. I do love a good boot detail!

We Just Running Around.

I really, really like the days that I can just dress in jeans and old ratty t-shirts. I could do this everyday when I come to think of it but it feels like I’m having a day off when I reserve it for time to time occasions. We have drawers upon drawers full of old tees and I think the Harley Davidson ones always end up the winners. They are just so… I dunno… funny?! In any case, I was a passenger all day today and somehow managed to get through a hell of a lot of work and emails just by riding shotgun. I would like a chauffeur everyday so I can dress like a slob guilt free all the time. It sounds win win to me!

This is me being all nonchalant and I don’t care…

It’s All The Same Thing, No New Tale To Tell.

Love and Rockets are embarrassingly one of my favourite bands and this caption never fails to express the current state of affairs. I have a dilemma. What is it exactly that ‘bloggers’ blog about when they have nothing to say? I’m only a week in and I’m discovering that the goings on of my day to day aren’t all that exciting. There are things that interest me and probably me only such as amusing conversations with customers, suppliers and just random people on the street but I don’t think that qualifies as material. I guess I’ll be sticking with clothes and music for occasions like these. Another not so surprising discovery is that I’m running out of places to take said pictures. I’m not quite brave enough to pull out the tripod in the middle of the street (yet) so the odd plant or piece of furniture will have to do. My friend Sara is awesome with placing a tripod in unsuspecting places. I might hit her up for some tips…

Dress: Kawaii Fashion, Shoes: Wittner (they are velvet and look like slippers therefore LOVE them), Bag: Thrifted

Apparently this bush thing is poisonous. I don’t know what it is. The flowers smell really nice. If I was into nature I’d definitely try to eat them. I was never one of those people.

Details! I think this bag is the cutest. It was $2 at a Salvo’s at Glenelg. It’s at that nice point in it’s life where the vinyl is becoming tacky. I have to make use of it while I can. My favourite thing about this bag was to discover a ticket stub in there to a “Song & Dance” event at Festival Theatre in 1982. It’s the same age as me! At least I’m not tacky… HA! Cheesy, maybe.

Enjoy the 80’s people!!
