Only Because I’m Greener Than Green.

Oooh I’m loving this cold. Of course I complain about being cold the entire time but I love boots and jeans and layers as previously (about every post I think) mentioned. This morning I had an “oh my god how could I forget that?” moment when I spotted my ridiculously over sequinned jacket in the closet. It is squished full of them. SO many silver fleckles! Anyway, it seemed like a way to make the green hair and ripped jeans more fancy. Oh, and the necklace. Come to think of it I’m not sure what I was trying to achieve….

I am a BIG fan of a sequin in the daytime. Or anytime for that matter!

My face is doing something weird here but look at the necklace! Love it!

I know these jeans are too tight and too small but the shirt is cut like a tux jacket. Not just a black shirt to me.

Pre-crinkled, but I could have done that myself.

Action shot! Real actual work!

She Said Come Over Come Over.

Today we went for a freezing cold country drive. By country I mean five minutes out of Mt Barker to Nairn. By my understanding of country, anything more then 20 minutes out of town is rural. I’m always surprised by how quickly city turns to country landscape. I guess that’s the hills for you. Well, apparently Nairn has a lot to offer as far as photo taking opportunities are concerned. Never one to pass up a dilapidated, decaying background, the old train station worked out a treat. We might even have broken some rules and wandered around on the platform. Oops! Anyone heading through the hills, go see Belinda at Millies. She makes a mean coffee. Definitely warmed me up to get the courage to take these outside. Oh, and yes, I know I am wearing shorts but they are CORDUROY. I know thats a crime to some but at least my butt was toasty warm. Sadly my legs couldn’t say the same.

The steel train tracks were a little cold on the backside. How about FREEZING!!

This jacket didn’t fare so well. Pretty much filthy. I can’t do light colours. It’s a fact.

I really thought I was going to be able to push this old crane around on its spinner. Um, no.

This is me channeling Where’s Wally.

Looking like I’ve just done something really bad…

Hey Man If We Just Found Irony Do You Know How Ironic That Would Be?

Today I did something I’d been meaning to do for quite a while. Don’t get too excited…. I went to Target. Oh my, I do really, really like target. I can’t explain why, I’m just always impressed. We always go over to Newton so on our way home went for a little stroll at Morialta. The weather was kinda perfect today, cold but sunny. I think my favourite. Unfortunately after eating an entire packet of gummy bears in about five minutes, moving was not on the top of my to do list. Oh well. Best intentions and all that.

I always feel like I have to explain this t-shirt. Yes, I know Van Halen are awful but some stuff is kinda alright which makes it ok to wear a shirt in hipster ironic style fashion. No matter your thoughts on their tunes, they always made amazing tees. All of them. Every one colourful and crazy and an awful lot of attention and detail put into their artwork. Yes yes. I know. Still unforgivable.

Everytime I put it on it makes me think of the Bondi Hipsters. I love these guys. They nail it totally. And hey, we’re all a little bit guilty of it… no?

Why the face? Well, it was stuffed full of gummy bears. I can’t stop when I start!

My bag was going to be a temporary measure to fit my laptop in after my other one was pinched. It turns out the $30 sale bag has become much more loved and a keeper than I had anticipated.

Fluffy Hair! It’s so trashed. I wonder why?…..

Hey You! Why so serious?

Ok, that’s more like it.

I’m pretty sure I could fill this blog exclusively with pictures of me scratching my head. Weird.

A Simple Kind Of Life.

So, I thought I hated this hot pink hair. Turns out I don’t mind it. Kinda like it even. It was bugging me that I couldn’t figure out what it reminded me of. Then it hit me. Gwen Stefani in No Doubt circa late 90’s with red lips and braces. She was so awkwardly cute back then. She had her own style even before she was ‘fashionable’ as such. I’ve never been a huge fan but the lady is something. I like her.

This dress I found in one of those super cheap stores in Regent arcade that all the cute little Hong Kong girls seem to shop and work in. Cute dresses that are dirt cheap and terribly constructed. This dress is hemmed with a loose overlock stitch which luckily blends in to the whoosh fabric. So crap though. Threads hanging out everywhere too and a zipper that gets jammed. I sacrificed quality for cute on this one. Oh, the worst bit though is the most unflattering neck/ arm line I’ve ever encountered. It looks all nice with something under it but wow, you don’t want to see this sans sleeves. It gives me grandma arms which are a lie!!!! I’ll stay shirted for now.

I guess this is an action shot?

There it is again… squinty face!

I think this face is called ‘smug’.

I Think I Need A New Heart.

One thing these pictures don’t tell you is that I’ve done a fairly good job of singeing off some of my eyebrows and half my eyelashes on my left eye. That’s right, they caught on fire as I leant over a stove. Lesson learnt: well not much, except that MAC mascara and eyebrow pencils are highly flammable. Catching even. I’m still a supporter though and my Ruby Woo red lipstick always makes me feel like I’ve put in a bit of an effort with my appearance when I really haven’t put in any. Or not much at least!

It was really hard not to squint.

Angry bitch face from all the sun squinting.

Be Sure To Leave Your Underpants With Someone You Can Trust.

That line is from Jethro Tull. Not me. I’ve always found his music and lyrics kinda amusing. I’m not sure if I like it or not but I grew up on it because for some strange reason my dad was completely wowed. I’m not really sure what it was about them, I just remember being subjected to hour long versions of Aqualung and other strange noises. Weirdly, this t-shirt does not conjure up images of Jethro Tull. This tee screams “country” and it just seems plain wrong. In any case, I felt too neat and tidy in a shirt and sensible shoes so I had to throw it on. It is entirely possible I slept in it the night before. I can’t be sure. It was on my floor. It’s hard to tell…..The smooshed to the side beanie makes me feel ridiculous. I didn’t realise it looked like that….

The Sunlight’s Making Me Feel Paranoid.

Lately we just don’t seem to be able to get any photos before the light goes down. Yesterday we managed to find some overgrown suburban wasteland with about ten minutes before we lost the sun. The fading light made the depressing abandoned lot seem a whole lot more sad and depressing. I like that! Just when I thought nothing exciting could possibly happen… Voila! I found a coat rack lying abandoned in the weeds. Poor coat rack. I thought it was best to give it one last chance at life. I wonder how it got there?  I was temporarily entertained…

Purple! (again)

Random stinky old suitcase. It was all beaten up but had some awesome orange neon straps. Small things get me excited.

Tried and true sunnies. I always go back to them.

I was REALLY happy with my discovery in the weeds….

It’s a coat rack! Of course!

Watch Me Unravel, I’ll Soon Be Naked.

All these years later I still get the sweater song stuck in my head when I pull on a big fuzzy jumper. Theres nothing better in my opinion. The bigger the better. It’s not somewhere I would have naturally guessed would have great knits cheap but Sportsgirl always proves itself a winner in the jumper and cardigan department. There is almost always some kind of sale or discount happening. This particular one cost $30 on super sale and is pure Angora. None of that acrylic junk. I love winter. The colder the better. Really it’s because I like getting wrapped up like a snowman. Also, I cant be totally sure but I think this is actually a dress. It’s hard to tell. I always buy about two to three sizes too big in jumpers so maybe if it fit it would be. Mmmm…cozy.Thankfully I got my stolen face back (Make up was pinched too) and I have my face back. Hooray! Thanks MAC girls!

So it’s official. Blue dye is the colour that refuses to wash out. I think I’m stuck with it for good now!

We Could Slip Away. Wouldn’t That Be Better?

Well it certainly has been a super busy past week. Events going on all over the place but this past Friday at Coriole Winery in McLaren Vale was perhaps the nicest. It was my first visit there and I can definitely see what the appeal is. So pretty and quaint. It feels as if you’re just popping in to visit a friend. I went up there to help out my pal and business partner Simon who was putting on a bit of a spread for lunch. Being someone who cant cook, having friends who can sure has some perks. I’m forever living off of leftovers. Leftovers of the good kind!

Somehow, I telepathically knew that my dress would blend in perfectly with the orange Bouganvillea. Pity my camera guy for the day is a lousy photographer and I’m pulling the “just press the button” squinty face shot. Oh well, he made up for it with the food!

This is Lentil. I think everyone could relate to him by the end of the lunch. Sleepy and stuffed!

I’m Only Happy When The News Is Bad.

I really don’t have a whole lot to say. Well I do, but it’s all poor me and moaning and groaning and I really just can’t be bothered with all that. Long story short is that my handbag and computer were stolen last friday and I’ve been in a bit of a dream state ever since then. It’s quite horrible how much my things own me. Sigh. In any case, I’ve been dressing for comfort and not carrying a bag around anywhere. Kinda nice!

Basically I’ve been hanging out at home trying to find something to do with all the non computer time. This is just me and the Sausage spending some quality time on the balcony. His favourite thing is to stare at the traffic. He can sit there for hours! I’m not too sure what’s so exciting about it.

Hair still blue. I think it’s stained for good.
